Congratulation!
Your emotion seemed so strong that your essay touched me.

I'm very curious about what you would talk about if you were allowed to talk for three straight days.
But it doesn't seem feasible....
So,, If I could ask you one thing, I'd like to ask what made you decided to take this degree?

Thanks for the nice message, AKI.
It was one of the greatest moments in my life for sure. I'm guessing that it'll take another QW piece to answer your question completely, so let me just tell you in person next time we meet, okay? Seemingly in less than two weeks? ;-)

QW 060312 “Master’s Degree Earned”

Here am I sitting in front of my PC and QWing as part of a daily routine as usual, but this day is special. I attended the commencement ceremony of Temple University Japan Campus. I’ve finally earned the master’s degree on TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages) after three-and-a-half year course work. Far back in the fall of 2007, I started thinking about earning the degree, but waited for a year to test my determination before enrolling myself in the program. Then, in January 2009, my very first semester at an English-medium graduate school began. There are so many things I can talk about and it’ll take me three straight days to go over the details even if I talk nonstop.

The one big concern that I’ve been having in term of finishing my whole coursework is whether I’ll be able to let my parents see my graduation. They were already in their late seventies when I started the coursework three years ago, and I was thinking that they might not be able to see myself wearing a hat and gown and marching in the commencement ceremony. And today, June 3rd 2012, is my father’s 80th birthday and he came to the ceremony. Nothing makes me so rewarded than to be able to invite both of my parents to my long-awaited commencement. I truly appreciate all the support that has made this day a reality. And I’m proud of myself for making it happen.

President Hart came all the way to our ceremony held in Tokyo, Japan. Her speech was very impressive.
