1) Is work experience for teenagers also important in your country? Why or why not?

The way I see this issue is that work experience is not so valued in my country as in the U.K. described in the article. Whether admittance to university or job search, teenagers’ academic background is more valued and considered than their work experiences.
 
2) What do you think is the effect of having no work experience for a teenager?

If a teenager has no work experience, he or she will struggle more than those who have some experiences once they start working. Previous work experiences will help teenagers adapt themselves to working full-time. Also, work experiences will open the eyes of teenagers to the real world, making him or her realize the importance of value of formal education that they’d eventually receive.

3) Why do you think some people take advantage of their social networks to get jobs?

It’s because social networks can bring information and opportunities that people would never access otherwise. Also, people in your social network know you who you’re. They are more likely to provide you with a job opportunity that will suit your attributes, interests, and preferences.

4) What are the positive or negative effects of hiring someone recommended by a friend or family member?

One of the positive effects is that the person hired was already endorsed by the people you know. It also deduces the hiring cost that employers would have to pay.

The negative effect is the case that the endorsed person turned out to fall short of the expectations of an employer. It’d not easy for the employer to fire the person who was recommended by the people he or she knows well. To avoid such awkward situations, an employer needs to make sure if the recommended person is truly qualified for the position, and take responsibilities of hiring him or her.
