She seems very popular as you said. Whenever I checked her time slots, they are always full. Although I don't take her lesson,

Thanks for your kind comment, Aki.
Yeah, Philda seems to be one of the most popular tutors whose lessons we can barely book. I knew why it is so through taking her regular discussion lesson, not just having a free conversation. Her professionalism is something that I'd like to emulate as a teacher; skilled, attentive, and reliable.
Enjoy your Skype lessons! And keep coming back here too.

QW 032012 “Feedback from Philda 1”

Tonight’s Skype lesson was with Philda, a female tutor around my age. It’s not easy to book her lesson because her time slots are not that many and she’s super popular among learners. It was my third lesson with her and also was the first time for me to ask for an article-based discussion lesson. What was amazing to me was that she typed up the sentences that I created orally upon checking five target words embedded in the article I was going to read. Other tutors do give me feedback, but nobody would bother to revise my sentences. Here’s the feedback and revision that Philda gave to me tonight. We couldn’t cover the whole article because we spent most of the time on collaboration of creating any better sentences. Which I found no problem with.

1) viewership (n)
My creation: The catchy commercial message attracted a lot of viewership.
Philda’s revision: The catchy commercial message attracted a lot of viewers.

2) commercial (a)
My creation: This product is not for commercial use.
Philda’s revision: This product should not be used commercially. (She said my sentence is perfectly okay, though.)

3) notch (n)
My creation: R****** is a topnotch online English school in Japan.
Philda’s revision: N/A

4) anticipation (n)
My creation: I have anticipation that I would fail the test.
Philda’s 1st revision: I anticipated that I would fail the test.
Philda’s 2nd revision: My anticipation is that I would fail the test.
My spin: I can’t deny my anticipation that I would fail the test. (She said the sentence is just fine.)

5) bandwagon (n)
My creation: The theory is getting popularity and many people are trying to jump on the bandwagon.
Philda’s revision: The theory is getting popular and many people are trying to jump on the bandwagon.
My spin: There is a growing popularity in the theory and many people are trying to jump on the bandwagon. (She said the sentence is good.)
