QW 021212 “Divine”

The news that Whitney Houston passed away brought me back to the days of “Darkest before Dawn” in my life. Google taught me that her best CD “The Greatest Hits” was initially released in May 2000, and then I learned that it was the time when I bought the CD and sang her songs out loud at home almost every day. For me personally, the beauty of singing a song, especially a romantic song lies in that I can project my feelings and emotions, whether conscious or unconscious, onto its lyrics. I can no longer remember if I was terribly heartbroken or had a serious problem in my relationship at that time (probably yes to a certain degree), but her love songs were really, really facilitative in releasing something unleashed deep down. I would often shed tears singing her songs and cleansing my soul, not exactly crying over my own situations, but rather I would overwhelmed by the feelings and emotions so beautifully rendered in her songs. Have you ever suddenly burst into tears to see an otherworldly scenery without reasons? That was what just happened to me back then, I guess. To such extent, her singing sounded divine to me.
