Quick Write 091511 “High stakes”

I’ve been pondering on the sentence I wrote for QW 0914 since last night. I think I’ve almost sorted out my problem, but would like write on it as a QW product for the record. The part in question is as follows:
“But high stakes that DMing entails will give you opportunities and motives to express your thoughts, ideas, and feelings both effectively and economically. ” (QW 0914)
Did you see my problem here?

To make the matter simpler, I’ll divide the sentence into two by deleting the relative pronoun “that”.
1) DMing entails high stakes
2) High stakes will give you opportunities and motives to express your thoughts, ideas, and feeling both effectively and economically.
I used a verb “entail” in 1) as “to involve something as an inevitable part or consequence (Source: OED)", and the verb “entail” takes “high stakes” as an object. The question is whether “high stakes” is really something as an inevitable part or a consequence of DMing. Well, are you following me?

I may have misused “stake” as something similar to “risk” or “degree of risk” recalling a usage like “Someone’s life is at stake.”, but one of the definitions for “stake” by Merriam Webster Online is “something that is staked for gain or loss”. Then, it makes sense that “DMing entails high stakes” sounds strange because nothing tangible is to be lost or gained through DMing. DMing is just one way of communication, and miscommunication is, or at least can be, negotiable when recognized by the people involved.

But the real problem here is that I hadn’t realized my mistake until it was pointed out by someone else. The QW piece revealed my the lack of my unferstanging of how "high stakes" are used in a context at a subconscious level, but I couldn’t find the problem by myself although I thought I was very much aware of the importance of learning one’s own mistakes. Knowing and doing are so different. This experience has given me shame, regret, and another opportunity of self-teaching. English learning life can get tough with me, but I’ll NEVER quit.
