Quick Write 091111 “September 2011 TOEIC”

September TOEIC was a much smoother one than July TOEIC. The last time I took the test, I was both physically and mentally exhausted although I tried ignoring my weariness on the test day. Compared to July, I was in a better condition, physically and mentally, and succeeded in concentrating on a 2-hour test with focused attention. I usually have no big objectives for taking the TOEIC test rather than doing my best and checking the latest test trend, but this time, I had a few objectives to spend three hours indoors on a dry, comfortable, sunny holiday. One of the objectives is to keep track of the time spent for each reading section, especially Part 7. In July TOEIC, I almost ran out of time for the reading section. I found one mark uncolored just 30 seconds before the testing time finished, which never occurred to me since I started taking the test 10 years ago. So I decided to manage time more wisely than the last time. The reading section usually starts at 13:46, so did today’s test. I finished Part 5 at 13:55, Part 6 at 14:00, and Part 7 at 14:50. I can say this is what I usually do on the test. Today at 14:00, I thought I had enough time for Part 7 as usual, but I had the same thought in July. It turned out that I was stuck in one of the single passages for which I spent too much time for locating an evidence for one question, and failed to keep up a good time management. Actually, the similar thing happened in one of the double passages today. I didn’t know why, but the first time I tried to solve a question, I was kind of stuck, I mean I spent more than 1 minute to mark the answer. Then I remember what happened to me in July. I soon abandoned the question and moved onto the next double passage. Fortunately, I could revisit the question at around 14:45 after solving the rest of the questions, and for the second time, I could identify the evidence with much ease. Regarding “Don’t be stuck Operation”, my September TOEIC seems to be successful.

I ate this chocolate during the break, and gave one to Masaya who was at the same test venue.
