Quick Write 082411 “Quick Write and its readership”

I’ve just obtained very important input from my friend regarding Quick Writing (QWing) and its readership. Honestly, I don’t usually have a problem about the readership to whom I do QWing. I’m very much aware that I have wonderful friends out there who take time reading my pieces and giving me helpful feedback (I truly appreciate your time and continued interest, folks!!), so I’m talking about the readership to whom a new Quick Writer (QWer) or an occasional QWer will do their writing. I’m now convinced that I do QWing for my own learning, while hoping others will join me to this daily casual writing practice, so it’s more like that I’m writing to myself or the other self who’d be watching my writing practice, so to speak. Again, I know that I’m fortunate enough to be able to imagine my readership for my daily QWing.

Now let’s take keeping a diary for comparison. The supposed readership should be just you, and it doesn’t require a serious contemplation on that, I guess. You do writing just for record or dumping your thoughts that would never be shared with others, or organizing what you vaguely have in your mind. If you’re working on your blog post, the expected readership must be the regular visitors to your blog or someone who’s gooled some keyword and found your blog by chance. In case that you write a report in English assigned by your teacher or your boss, you’re supposed to demonstrate what you’ve learned and known in writing to those people. But QWing is a little different, as my friend points out. Unlike a personal journal, a blog post or an assigned report, a QW piece you’ve posted might be noticed and read by the Quick Write Forum (QWF) visitors, but you’ll almost never know who’s gonna read your post. I’ll check and read every single QW product posted since I’m a moderator of the QWF, but contributors will never know who else reads their submitted post.

Yes, that is very true. If prospective QWers hesitate to write and post their QW products simply because they are unable to conceive or imagine the readership to whom they’re writing, or they’re afraid of feeling empty thinking that you they have no one to read your their post, I’d like them to know that I’m here to read your their post. I’d like them to convince themselves that they’re writing to “me”, the QWF moderator, if they ever need the supposed readership to produce a piece. I don’t actually have good solutions to this problem, but I’ll try coming up with ideas that might work well. I’d always welcome feedback from my dear regular visitors or future contributors. Thanks.
