Quick Write 071511 “How a portable music player saved my life”

While I was singing along (at heart) with Rainbow’s classics featuring my beloved vocalist Graham Bonnet on the bus to campus this morning, I vaguely recalled the time when I first obtained a portable music player. I started listening to music sung in English at the age of 13. Since then music has been always with me. I bought my first stereo set when I was14 in Akihabara. I very much liked those Sony speakers which were about 100cm in height. At the age of 16, I obtained my first portable music player. Yes, world famous “Walk-man”, which literally was my dream come true. This small device made it possible to take my favorite music with me all the time. On mornings (almost every morning, technically speaking,) when I was reluctant to go to school, this small apparatus was always willing to accompany me all the way to school and cheer me up . my Walkman, like a human escort, would successfully cheer me up with my beloved Hard Rock music and take me to school no matter how unwilling I was. While riding on a crowded train, I was able to dive into “another world” that music and its lyrics created. I was able to forget all the small stuff and devote myself to the music, only to the riffs that the guitars were playing along with the beats that the bass and drums were pounding out. That was one of the most reclusive, but happiest moments of my school days. Don’t get me wrong, folks. I had some nice friends to talk with, and was not bullied or anything!
