Quick Write 061811-1 "Listening Section or Reading Section?"

Contrary to a general observation that males prefer Reading Section whereas females like Listening Section better, I’ d say I like Reading Section way better. It may be somehow understandable that men are good at logics and might do well on Reading Section of TOEIC that requires logical thinking and some kind of astuteness based on analytical skills. Women are more like communication-oriented and could be better at verbal communication. You can see ladies totally absorbed in chatting everywhere, right? Oh, let me go back to “TOEIC”, then. Why I prefer Reading Section may be that there are hints and clues for answers in the sentences or pasages, and what I need to do is to locate and identify the right paths leading to the correct answers while managing time in my own discretion. In short, I can take control of everything! However, Listening Section doesn’t allow me to do that. Once started, all you can you is just hold your breath (Exaggeration!), won’t miss any single word (Another exaggeration! You don’t have to do that, actually), visualize the situation, and retain the key information to the answers. What a hard work! Even though I’ve kept achieving 495 in on Listening Section since 2003 or so, it still makes me a bit tense and requires undivided concentration while working on the section…

(3 min for brainstorming / 10 min for writing / 216 words)

To me, TOEIC Reading Section is like a demanding baby who always requires my wholehearted attention, devotion, and astuteness. He'll never fail to give me a hard blow if there's a slight lameness in my logics and inferences. Still, I cannot hate him!
